FACTS

Light is essential to see whilst you feed and care for your little one at night; no one enjoys stumbling around in the dark or being over-stimulated or dazzled by a bright light in the middle of the night! The colour, position and brightness of the light you use is really important, not only to see the task in hand, but also to help your baby (and you!) get back to sleep easily.

 PROBLEM

Light emitted from many nightlights, bedroom lighting or electronic devices can contain a large amount of blue light. Blue light doesn’t necessarily look blue, it's part of the white light spectrum and can trick our brains into thinking it’s daytime; not what you want when trying to settle a baby down to sleep after a feed! 

SCIENCE

Many scientific studies show that blue light can increase alertness at night and suppress the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. Too much blue light at bedtime is scientifically proven to lead to night time waking and alertness. Put simply, blue light simulates a blue sky, daytime and being awake; golden light  simulates sunset and encourages sleep.
